Shattered - Review
Shattered
by Dani Pettrey is a mystery that will keep you in suspense from the first page
until the very last word.
Piper
McKenna is so happy that her brother Reef but trouble is following him. A fellow athletic is dead and he is suspected
of murdering her. Can Piper prove his innocence? Or did he do it? Piper will find out.
Landon Grainger is a deputy in Yancy, Alaska.
A friend of the family doesn’t seem to matter when he has a job to do. With Reef in jail will Landon seek the truth?
Shattered
is the second book in Dani Pettrey’s, The Alaskan Courage Series. Although this book can be a standalone I not
only enjoyed the mystery but I also enjoyed the romance between Piper and
Landon. Since I have already read the
third book, which I don’t ever read out of order, it seemed to be that much
more enjoyable. Now I need to read the
first book, Submerged to meet the family that I have fallen in love with.

Katie's Song - Review
Kate’s Song by
Jennifer Beckstrand is a wonderful story that shows a love for family and being
able to utilize a God given talent to please others sometimes can be
misconstrued between each other.
Kate has come back to Apple Lake broken and needing to find herself. Nathaniel King is a friend from way back and they once again become important to each other. But can love win out when a misunderstanding stands in the way? Kate knows that God will always be by her side.

This is the first book by Jennifer that I have read. It is
also the first of a three book series about three cousins from Apple Lake whom
you meet in this first book and will get to know separately in the other books.
I found the characters to be believable and looking forward to getting to know
the other cousins.
I was fortunate to meet Jennifer Beckstrand at a book signing near my hometown and enjoyed getting to know her. Love the beautiful cover of this book. Can't wait to read more of this fresh incredible new author to me.

2013 Non-Fiction Reads

Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire-June
A powerful account how Jim and Carol Cymbala began their ministry at the Brooklyn Tabernacle in New York. After reading this wonderful book I was able to go visit the church and it was life changing. Here is earlier review.
More about Jim Cymbala
Jim Cymbala has been the pastor of The Brooklyn Tabernacle for more than twenty-five years. The author of the best-selling titles Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire; Fresh Faith; and Fresh Power, he lives in New York City with his wife, Carol Cymbala, who directs the Grammy Award-winning Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir.

Sent: How One Ordinary Family Traded the American Dream for God’s Greater Purpose-June
This book follows Hilary Alan and her family on their response to God's calling for them. Even though they were called to a different area I felt connected to them because of my love for missions in Hungary. I cried quite a bit with this one. Here is a link to my review.

Where God Finds You by Anita Higman-May
I seem to gravitate toward devotionals because each one is
unique and always so meaningful to me.
I’m so glad that I was able to read this devotional. It’s a fresh and unique look at so many bible
stories that I have read for so long. Here is my review.
