Waiting for a View - Review

You have to love small town wit and humor.  That is what you get with Debby Mayne’s Waiting for a View.  Waiting for a View is the first book of a wonderful new series by different authors set in the fictional town of Bloomfield. 

Can you change the way you have always done things and find new life?  That’s just what happened to Sherry Butler, the vice president of Bloomfield’s garden club and the manager of the local card shop in town.

She still lives in the home that she grew up in.  Simply, she was stuck in a rut.  Until the day a comment was made that changed her whole life.  Along with the help of several “quickie” friends that feels as if they know best. Take a chance by reading this wonderful lighthearted story.  I think you’ll enjoy it.   It’s funny and thought provoking also.

Brad Henderson is an old friend who is always there when Sherry needs him.   Will she wake up before Brad moves on?

Author and speaker Debby Mayne grew up in a military family, which meant moving every few years throughout her childhood. Debby was born in Alaska, and she has lived in Mississippi, Tennessee, Oregon, Florida, Hawaii, and Japan. Her comfort foods are as diverse as her interests. You might find her eating sushi while reading a cozy mystery novel or fried catfish while watching a Tampa Bay Buccaneers football game.

Her husband of more than 30 years has accepted the fact that outside of her faith and family, books are the most important thing in her life. She and Wally have two grown daughters, Lauren and Alison, two sons-in-law, Jason and Ryan, and two granddaughters.

A Vow For Always is book 6 of Wanda Brunstetter’s  6-consecutive-month release of her Lancaster County Saga.

Meredith is ready to move on without her beloved Luke.  Jonah has proposed and is ready to marry her and become a father to Levi.  In the meantime “Eddie” realizes after months of not know who he is that he is Luke, Meredith’s husband.

Will Luke return to see his wife marry another man or will Meredith and Luke find their forever vow?

I enjoyed this series of books very much.  Each one had a cliffhanger and it was difficult waiting until the next one.  NetGalley helped in that respect.  I was able to read each one in a timely fashion and did not have to wait very long.

My Life as a Bush - Review

Loved how John told his story as an impersonator of George Bush and paralleled it to knowing Christ. This book could be given to a person and it would not be too preachy, but yet it tells it like it is. Would you stand up for something you believe in when its time to take sides?

Home Run is a story about Cory Brand who wanted to play for the majors as a baseball player but his life is a disaster.  When he left home to become a baseball player he left behind an acholic father and a pregent girlfriend.  Ten years later he returns to his hometown and trys to pick up the pieces to his life.

 This was a wonderfully written story of showing the need for God is ALL areas of your life. It will take a grip on your soul and you will not want to put this one down. I can't wait for the movie to come out.

The Christian Alphabet Book - Review

The Christian Alphabet Book: Teaching Children about Jesus, Prayer, and the Bible guides you with Christian words and visuals from A to Z by Tracy Sands is a  wonderful book for children.  The visuals are beautiful and will catch a child’s eye in a moment.   Just one of the many ways of teaching is a search and find method.  My grandson who is three has enjoyed picking out a letter on the cover and then we go and find what it stands for and we read that section. We have gone through the book this way and I am impressed with his knowledge.

Tracy Sands is the author of this book and shows us a different way to teach the Christian ABC’s.  Although I have always heard ABC as Admit, Believe, and Confess,  as long as the meaning gets across ABC can stand for different aspects of the Christian Life.   I like the fresh approach of A-Z standing for a different aspect of Christianity life.

There are two pages each devoted to one letter.  There are many bible verses that aren given so you can go and look up the verse for yourself and see how it pertains to that particular alphabet letter.  There is a prayer at the end of each letter.  There is also a CD with songs and music to go along with the book.  

I think this book is perfet for children three through six.
